City Closures Planned for Juneteenth
Spokane City Hall and various municipal services will close on June 19 to observe Juneteenth, a federal holiday recognizing the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Alongside the closure of Spokane Municipal Court and all public library branches, on-street parking meters will be free, though standard parking regulations will remain in effect. Essential services, including garbage, recycling, and food waste collection, will continue without interruption. The Waste-to-Energy facility and Spokane County transfer stations will remain open. Spokane City Council is scheduled to meet on June 23, with meetings available on CityCable 5 and streaming online.
Spokane 311 will provide customer service on Juneteenth. Riverfront Park attractions, including the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide, will operate normally on this holiday. For further information on Juneteenth community events, readers are directed to the city’s blog post.
