City Closures Planned for Juneteenth
Spokane City Hall, the Municipal Court, and all public library branches will close on June 19 in recognition of Juneteenth, a federal holiday celebrating the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. While on-street parking will be free, residents must still adhere to time limits. Essential services like garbage, recycling, and food waste collection will proceed as scheduled, ensuring minimal disruption for residents. The Spokane City Council will convene on June 23 for agenda reviews and legislative meetings. Spokane 311 employees will be available for inquiries, maintaining customer service continuity.
Riverfront Park attractions, including the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide, will welcome visitors on Juneteenth. City golf courses will operate normally, and splash pads will be open for families. The city encourages residents to check the blog for upcoming Juneteenth community events.
