DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

Spokane, WALocal News

Cautia McArthur, 19, was arrested for causing two separate crashes in Spokane on Sunday night, injuring two people. The first collision occurred at Maxwell Ave. and Washington St. , where McArthur hit a pedestrian who tried to prevent her from fleeing after a minor crash. Witnesses reported that the pedestrian, a passenger in the first victim vehicle, suffered life-threatening injuries and was dragged several blocks.

Shortly after, McArthur collided with another vehicle at Monroe St. and Alice Ave. , resulting in serious injuries to an adult female. Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit processed the scene due to the severity of the incidents, which highlight the ongoing issue of impaired driving in the area. Despite a statewide decline in impaired driving fatalities in 2024, Spokane has seen an upward trend over the past decade.

The department has two full-time DUI enforcement officers to combat this growing concern. Citizens are urged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
