DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

On June 8, 2025, Cautia McArthur, 19, seriously injured two individuals in Spokane due to impaired driving. The first crash involved a pedestrian who was struck while trying to stop McArthur from fleeing the scene, leaving him with life-threatening injuries. Within minutes, McArthur ran a stop sign and collided with another vehicle, causing further injuries and damage to parked cars. Witness accounts and video evidence indicated she was driving at a high rate of speed. Spokane police reported a concerning rise in impaired driving fatalities over the past decade, contrasting with a statewide decline in 2024.

The Major Crimes Unit was dispatched due to the severity of the incidents, highlighting the serious nature of impaired driving offenses. Spokane Police currently maintain two full-time DUI enforcement officers to address this growing concern. Authorities urge the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
