City Closures Planned for Juneteenth

Spokane City Hall and various municipal services will close on Juneteenth, June 19, to honor the federal holiday recognizing the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, all library branches, and the Development Services Center will also be closed for the day. On-street parking meters and kiosks will not require payments, but all parking rules, including time limits, will still apply. Garbage, recycling, and food waste services will operate as usual, ensuring essential services continue uninterrupted. Spokane City Council will convene on June 23, with agendas available for public viewing on CityCable 5 and online platforms.

Riverfront Park attractions, including the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide, will remain open, along with city golf courses and splash pads. The observance of Juneteenth highlights the city's commitment to recognizing historical milestones in the fight for equality. Spokane officials encourage residents to participate in community events celebrating Juneteenth.
