DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

Cautia McArthur, 19, faces serious charges after injuring two people in two separate crashes in Spokane on Sunday night. The first collision occurred when McArthur hit a pedestrian who was trying to stop her from fleeing the scene of a minor crash, resulting in life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian was a passenger in the vehicle that McArthur initially collided with. Moments later, McArthur ran a stop sign and crashed into another vehicle, causing significant damage and injuries. Video footage indicates that McArthur was speeding prior to both incidents.

She has been charged with two counts of vehicular assault and one count of hit-and-run with injury, all felonies. Spokane Police have noted a troubling upward trend in impaired driving fatalities over the past decade. In response, they maintain two full-time DUI enforcement officers to address this ongoing issue.
