City Closures Planned for Juneteenth

Spokane City Hall will close on Juneteenth, June 19, in observance of the federal holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Closures will also affect the Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, and all Spokane Public Library branches. On-street parking will be free, but all time limits and regulations will still apply. Garbage, recycling, and food waste services will proceed as normal, ensuring continuity for residents. Spokane City Council will convene on June 23, with agenda reviews starting at 3:30 p.

m. and a legislative meeting at 6 p. m. Riverfront Park attractions, including the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide, will be open on Juneteenth, offering community engagement opportunities. The Waste-to-Energy facility and Spokane County’s transfer stations will also operate as usual.
