City Closures Planned for Juneteenth
Spokane City will close City Hall and several municipal services on June 19 to commemorate Juneteenth, a federal holiday honoring the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. The Spokane Municipal Court and Community Justice Services will also be closed, alongside all Spokane Public Library branches. Despite these closures, garbage, recycling, and food waste services will function on their regular schedules, ensuring essential waste management continues. On-street parking will be free, although all time limits must still be observed. Riverfront Park attractions such as the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide will remain open, and city golf courses will operate normally.
Spokane City Council plans to meet on June 23 for agenda reviews and legislative discussions. The observance of Juneteenth highlights the city's commitment to recognizing significant historical events.
