DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

On June 8, 2025, Cautia McArthur, 19, was arrested for seriously injuring two individuals in consecutive crashes attributed to impaired driving. The first incident occurred at 7:43 PM at the intersection of Maxwell Ave. and Washington St. , where McArthur hit a pedestrian who tried to stop her from fleeing, resulting in life-threatening injuries. After fleeing the scene, she struck another vehicle at Monroe St.

and Alice Ave. just two minutes later, injuring an adult female. Video evidence indicated McArthur's vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the second crash, which also impacted several parked vehicles. Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit processed the scene due to the severity of the injuries. Impaired driving fatalities have been on the rise in Spokane, contrasting with a decline statewide in 2024.

The Spokane Police Department has two full-time DUI enforcement officers to combat this issue. Authorities urge the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
