DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

Cautia McArthur, 19, faces felony charges after injuring two individuals in separate crashes in Spokane on June 8, 2025. The first incident occurred at Maxwell Ave. and Washington St. , where McArthur struck a pedestrian attempting to stop her from fleeing the scene of a minor crash. The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and is currently hospitalized.

Shortly after, McArthur collided with another vehicle at Monroe St. and Alice Ave. , causing significant damage and injuries to an adult female occupant. Surveillance footage indicated McArthur's vehicle was traveling at a high speed before the second crash. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit processed the scene due to the severity of the injuries involved.

Local statistics show an increase in impaired driving incidents in Spokane, contrasting with a statewide decline reported in 2024. The police department has deployed two full-time DUI enforcement officers to address this growing concern.
