City Provides Annual Report on Drinking Water Quality
Spokane’s Water Department released its annual drinking water quality report, confirming compliance with state and federal standards for 2024. The report detailed low-level detections of PFAS chemicals at three well locations, all remaining below state action levels. One well reported levels slightly above the revised EPA standard, but its four-quarter rolling average was just below the limit. Ongoing testing and follow-ups at these sites ensure community safety. Marlene Feist, Director of Public Works, highlighted the City’s commitment to delivering safe drinking water amid rising environmental contaminants.
The City has also joined a lawsuit against PFAS manufacturers and supports investigations into contamination sources. To promote water conservation, Spokane has enacted an “odd/even” watering schedule and offers rebates for water-efficient upgrades. The City encourages residents to access the Water Quality Report online or request a mailed copy from the Water Department.
