DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

On June 8, 2025, Cautia McArthur, 19, was involved in two separate collisions in Spokane, resulting in serious injuries to two victims. The first crash occurred at Maxwell Ave. and Washington St. , where McArthur struck a pedestrian attempting to stop her from fleeing the scene. This pedestrian, originally a passenger in the first victim vehicle, suffered life-threatening injuries and is currently hospitalized.

Just minutes later, McArthur collided with another vehicle at Monroe St. and Alice Ave. , causing extensive damage and injuring the adult female driver. Video evidence indicated McArthur was traveling at a high rate of speed during the second crash. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit investigated both incidents due to the severity of the injuries.

Local authorities report a troubling trend of increasing impaired driving in Spokane, contrasting with a decline statewide in 2024. Spokane Police currently employ two full-time DUI enforcement officers to address this issue.
