DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

On June 8, 2025, Cautia McArthur, 19, was arrested and charged with two counts of vehicular assault and one count of hit and run after injuring two individuals in two separate collisions in Spokane. At 7:43 PM, McArthur struck a pedestrian who had attempted to stop her from fleeing the scene of a minor crash, resulting in severe injuries. The pedestrian is currently hospitalized with life-threatening conditions. Two minutes later, McArthur crashed into another vehicle at Monroe St. and Alice Ave.

, sending both vehicles into seven parked cars and seriously injuring the female driver. Spokane Police noted a concerning trend of increasing impaired driving incidents in the city, contrasting with a statewide decline in 2024. The department has responded by assigning two full-time DUI enforcement officers to address the issue.
