DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

On June 8, 2025, an impaired driver named Cautia McArthur, 19, caused two serious crashes in Spokane, injuring a pedestrian and an adult female. The first incident occurred at Maxwell Ave. and Washington St. , where McArthur fled after hitting a pedestrian, who was trying to prevent her escape. This pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries, while the second crash happened shortly after at Monroe St.

and Alice Ave. , where McArthur collided with another vehicle. The force of this collision sent both vehicles into seven parked cars nearby. Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit processed the scene due to the serious nature of the injuries. McArthur, who also sustained injuries, was booked into Spokane County Jail on multiple felony charges.

Impaired driving fatalities in Spokane have trended upward, prompting the police department to deploy two full-time DUI enforcement officers. Citizens are urged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
