DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions
On June 8, 2025, Cautia McArthur, 19, was charged with two counts of Vehicular Assault after injuring two individuals in separate crashes in Spokane. Initially, McArthur struck a pedestrian who attempted to stop her from fleeing the first crash scene, resulting in life-threatening injuries. Just minutes later, she collided with another vehicle, causing significant damage and injuries to the adult female driver. Witnesses described McArthur's vehicle as speeding before the second incident, which also impacted seven parked cars. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is processing the scene due to the serious nature of the crashes.
Impaired driving fatalities in Spokane have trended upward, contrasting with a decline observed statewide in 2024. The Spokane Police Department has two full-time DUI enforcement officers to address this growing concern. Officials urge the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
