DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

Spokane, WALocal News

On June 8, 2025, Cautia McArthur, 19, injured two people in two crashes in Spokane, leading to charges of vehicular assault and hit-and-run. The first crash involved a pedestrian, who was struck while trying to prevent McArthur from escaping after a minor collision. Witnesses described her vehicle as an older minivan that fled the scene. Just minutes later, McArthur collided with another vehicle, resulting in additional injuries and damage to parked cars. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating the incidents, which underscore the rising trend of impaired driving in Spokane.

Over the past decade, impaired driving fatalities have increased locally, contrasting with a statewide decline in 2024. The city has responded by employing two full-time DUI enforcement officers to address this growing concern. Authorities urge the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
