DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

Cautia McArthur, 19, faces felony charges after injuring two individuals in separate crashes on June 8, 2025, in Spokane. The first incident involved a pedestrian who attempted to stop McArthur's flight after a minor crash, resulting in life-threatening injuries. Witnesses noted that the suspect vehicle was an older minivan that fled the scene of the initial collision. Just two minutes later, McArthur ran a stop sign and collided with another vehicle, sending both into parked cars and injuring the female driver. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incidents due to the serious nature of the injuries sustained.

Impaired driving fatalities have risen in Spokane, contrasting with a state-wide decline in 2024. To address this issue, the Spokane Police have dedicated two full-time DUI enforcement officers. The public is encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911.
