DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

Spokane, WALocal News

On June 8, 2025, Cautia McArthur, 19, seriously injured two individuals in Spokane during two separate crashes within five minutes. During the first incident, a pedestrian was struck while attempting to stop McArthur from fleeing the scene, suffering life-threatening injuries. Minutes later, McArthur ran a stop sign at Monroe St. and collided with another vehicle, causing a chain reaction that involved several parked cars. Video evidence suggests McArthur's vehicle was speeding prior to the second crash.

The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit responded due to the severity of the injuries inflicted on both victims. Local statistics indicate a concerning upward trend in impaired driving incidents in Spokane, contrasting with a statewide decline in 2024. In response, the Spokane Police have assigned two full-time DUI enforcement officers to address the issue. Authorities encourage anyone who suspects impaired driving to call 911 immediately.
