City Provides Annual Report on Drinking Water Quality

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's Water Department published its 2024 annual drinking water quality report, confirming compliance with all state and federal standards. The report indicates low-level PFAS detections at three well sites, which are below state action levels. One well's average slightly exceeded the revised EPA standard, yet remains compliant on a rolling average basis. The City has adopted updated testing methodologies and maintains consistent monitoring of water quality. In response to increasing contaminants, Spokane has joined a lawsuit against PFAS manufacturers and is collaborating with the Spokane Aquifer Joint Board to investigate contamination sources.

Additionally, the City promotes water conservation through the Water Wise Spokane program, which includes a mandatory odd/even watering schedule. The Water Department also offers rebates for water-efficient upgrades and a turf replacement program. Residents can access the full report and further resources online or by calling the Water Department.
