City Provides Annual Report on Drinking Water Quality

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's Water Department confirmed that the city's drinking water meets all state and federal standards in its 2024 annual quality report. Low-level detections of PFAS chemicals at three well locations remain below state action levels, although one well site slightly exceeded the new EPA standards. The city emphasizes that the average for this well is compliant at four parts per trillion. Follow-up testing and monitoring procedures have been implemented to ensure public safety. Spokane has also joined a lawsuit against PFAS manufacturers and collaborates with local boards to investigate contamination sources.

Additionally, the city promotes water conservation through its Water Wise Spokane program, which includes an odd/even watering schedule and rebates for water-efficient upgrades. The Water Department continues to engage with community members, providing information and resources for safe water use. Residents can access the water quality report online or request a mailed copy by contacting the department.
