DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

Spokane, WALocal News

On June 8, 2025, Cautia McArthur, 19, seriously injured two people in Spokane due to impaired driving. After fleeing from a minor crash, she struck a pedestrian who was trying to stop her, causing life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian had been a passenger in the victim vehicle from the first crash. Just minutes later, McArthur ran a stop sign, colliding with another vehicle and crashing into nearby parked cars. Witnesses described her driving as reckless, with video evidence showing her at high speed before the second accident.

Spokane Police noted a troubling rise in impaired driving incidents, contrasting with a statewide decrease in 2024. In response, the department employs two full-time DUI enforcement officers to combat this trend. The incidents underscore the ongoing challenges posed by impaired driving in the community.
