DUI Driver Seriously Injures Two People in Two Separate Collisions

Cautia McArthur, 19, faces felony charges after injuring two victims in separate crashes in Spokane on June 8, 2025. The first incident occurred at the intersection of Maxwell Ave. and Washington St. , where McArthur hit a pedestrian who was attempting to stop her from fleeing the scene. The pedestrian, originally a passenger in the vehicle she struck, suffered life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after, McArthur ran a stop sign at Monroe St. and collided with another vehicle, causing serious injuries to the female driver. Witnesses noted McArthur's vehicle was speeding prior to both crashes. The Spokane Police Major Crimes Unit responded due to the severity of the injuries sustained. Impaired driving fatalities have trended upward in Spokane, while Washington State overall saw a decline in 2024.

The Spokane Police Department employs two full-time DUI enforcement officers to address this issue.
