City Provides Annual Report on Drinking Water Quality

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane's 2024 drinking water quality report indicates full compliance with all state and federal standards. While low-level PFAS detections were found at three well locations, these levels remained below the state's action thresholds. One well showed a result slightly above the revised EPA limit, but the overall average complies with regulations. The City has implemented new monitoring procedures to address these contaminants effectively. Spokane has taken legal action against PFAS manufacturers to hold them accountable for environmental contamination.

Additionally, the City supports the Spokane Aquifer Joint Board in identifying potential contamination sources. Water conservation efforts are also underway, including a new ordinance for an every-other-day watering schedule. The Water Department offers various rebates for water-efficient upgrades to assist residents.
