City Provides Annual Report on Drinking Water Quality

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's Water Department announced its 2024 drinking water quality report, confirming compliance with all state and federal standards. The report highlighted low-level PFAS detections at three well locations, all below action levels, although one well's result was slightly above the revised EPA standard. Compliance is measured using a four-quarter rolling average, which for that well is just below the limit at four parts per trillion. The City has implemented updated testing procedures and continues to monitor these contaminants closely. Spokane is also involved in a lawsuit against PFAS manufacturers and collaborates with the Spokane Aquifer Joint Board to investigate contamination sources.

The City emphasizes its commitment to providing safe drinking water amid growing environmental concerns. Residents can access the full report online or request a copy by phone. Additionally, the City promotes water conservation efforts through the Water Wise Spokane program and has enacted an “odd/even” watering schedule to reduce water waste.
