DV Suspect in Custody After being Located in Wooded Area, Firearms Recovered

Spokane, WALocal News

SPD arrested Daniel J. Tillotson, 44, for 3rd Degree Assault-DV after a female victim reported he sprayed her with bear spray during a camping trip. The incident occurred on June 3rd when the victim contacted a gas station, revealing she had been assaulted. Officers noted she exhibited signs consistent with bear spray exposure and mentioned a shotgun she had seen in Tillotson's tent previously. Though officers initially searched for Tillotson, they could not locate him at that time.

On June 4th, the victim returned to the campsite to retrieve her belongings, leading to another police response. With the assistance of a drone, officers discovered Tillotson in the wooded area and arrested him without further incident. They also recovered several firearms linked to him at the campsite. This case raises significant concerns regarding domestic violence and the potential dangers of firearm possession in such situations.
