Flags Lowered for Representative Frank Chopp
Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at City facilities to be lowered to half-staff in remembrance of Frank Chopp, who served as Washington's longest-serving Speaker of the House until his passing on March 22, 2025. Governor Bob Ferguson also instructed that state and U. S. flags at all state agency facilities be lowered in his honor. Mayor Brown highlighted Chopp's dedication to housing and healthcare, stating he was a "longtime friend and colleague.
" A memorial service for Chopp is scheduled for June 1 at 2 p. m. at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, allowing the community to come together in remembrance.
