Firefighters responded promptly to a fire at the Sky View Apartments in Spokane on May 22, dispatched at 12:48 p. m. to reports of black smoke. Upon arrival, crews found visible smoke and assisted two residents trapped by smoke in a common hallway. The fire, which originated in a unit undergoing renovation, was extinguished quickly, with an investigation determining it was caused by a stovetop igniting combustible materials.

Fortunately, no residents were displaced, and the two individuals received evaluations from AMR paramedics and were deemed stable. Fire officials emphasized the importance of closing doors during a fire, a measure that can significantly slow fire growth and protect occupants.
