Spokane, WALocal News

Firefighters responded swiftly to a fire at Sky View Apartments in Spokane on May 22, 2025, following reports of black smoke from a window. The fire, which occurred in a main-floor unit undergoing renovation, left upper-floor residents trapped due to smoke in the common hallway. Engine 1, Truck 1, and Truck 4 arrived within four minutes and quickly extinguished the flames, assisting two occupants who needed help escaping. AMR paramedics evaluated the individuals outside, confirming they were stable and did not require medical treatment. Investigators determined the fire was accidental, originating from a stovetop that ignited combustible materials.

Fortunately, damage was confined to the unit, and smoke did not spread to the hallways, preventing a more dangerous situation. Spokane Fire officials emphasized the importance of closing doors during a fire to slow growth and protect occupants. The rapid response showcased effective fire suppression efforts in a multi-family building.
