Apartment Fire Prompts Evacuation Assistance, No Injuries Reported

Spokane, WALocal News

Firefighters responded promptly to a fire at the Sky View Apartments in Spokane on May 22, 2025, following multiple 911 calls. The fire erupted in a main-floor unit undergoing renovation, filling the common hallway with smoke and preventing some residents from evacuating. Engine 1, Truck 1, and Truck 4 arrived within four minutes and confirmed visible smoke. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and rescued two trapped occupants using air-breathing masks. Paramedics assessed the individuals outside, finding them in stable condition without the need for medical treatment.

Investigators determined the fire was accidental, caused by a stovetop turned on with combustible items on top. Fire damage remained contained to the origin area, with smoke affecting nearby walls. Fire officials emphasized the critical role of closing doors during a fire to protect residents and slow fire growth.
