Council Seeks Applications to Fill Expected Vacancy

Spokane City Council Member Lili Navarrete's resignation effective July 1, 2025, has triggered the process to fill her District 2, Position 2 seat. The application period opens on May 23, 2025, with forms available on the City’s website and at City Hall. Applicants must submit their applications by June 20, 2025, at 5:00 p. m. The City Council will interview candidates on July 10, 2025, during a publicly noticed meeting.

Afterward, a public hearing will be held on July 14, 2025, for community feedback. The council will then hold an executive session to evaluate candidates' qualifications. The final vote to appoint a new council member will take place on July 28, 2025. Candidates must have resided in District 2 since at least July 28, 2024, to be eligible.
