One Hospitalized After Morning House Fire on North Crestline Street

Spokane firefighters responded to a bedroom fire at 9:30 a. m. today in the 7400 block of North Crestline Street, aided by Spokane County Fire District 9. Engine 15 reached the scene in four minutes, confirming an active fire and quickly extinguishing it. An adult male was hospitalized due to serious smoke inhalation, while an adult female received on-scene evaluation.

Investigators found that the fire ignited from improperly discarded smoking materials in a bedroom chair. The American Red Cross has stepped in to assist two displaced adults and their dog. This incident underscores the risks associated with smoking indoors, particularly regarding fire safety. Fire departments continue to emphasize the importance of safe disposal practices for smoking materials to prevent similar incidents. Community safety measures and education efforts remain crucial in reducing fire hazards in residential areas.
