Spokane Valley has appointed Robert Blegen as its new Public Works Director, effective January 16, 2025. With over 25 years of experience in infrastructure development, Blegen has a strong background in managing significant projects, including the North Spokane Corridor, during his tenure with the Washington State Department of Transportation. His military service as a US Army engineer officer further enhances his leadership credentials and commitment to public service. City Manager John Hohman expressed confidence in Blegen’s ability to drive positive change and improve community services. A resident of Spokane Valley since 1999, Blegen is deeply connected to the area and its residents.

He holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and multiple engineering certifications, demonstrating his expertise in the field. Blegen's enthusiasm for his new role is evident in his commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Spokane Valley residents. Outside work, he enjoys family activities like skiing and watersports, reflecting his strong community ties.
