No Criminal Charges in January 31, 2024 Shooting

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane County Prosecutor has ruled that several Spokane Police Officers acted justifiably in the shooting of Craig S. Anglisano on January 31, 2024, in Edwidge Wolden Park. Police were called to the scene after Anglisano's girlfriend expressed fears for his safety, reporting concerning messages and threats. Upon locating him, officers attempted to negotiate and persuade him to put down his loaded 9mm handgun, but he consistently refused. At approximately 6:19 PM, Anglisano pointed his weapon at the officers, leading them to respond with lethal force.

This pattern repeated itself two additional times before Anglisano remained unresponsive on the ground. An independent investigation revealed that while Anglisano's gun was loaded, it had not been fired during the encounter. Toxicology tests conducted after his autopsy showed negative results for any substances. The Spokane County Sheriff's Office led the investigation, ensuring an objective review of the incident.
