Spokane County Veterans Services Doubles Claims Awards in 2024

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane County's Veterans Services experienced a significant milestone in 2024, with VA claims awards skyrocketing from $9 million in 2023 to over $24 million. This impressive growth reflects the dedication of the Spokane County Regional Veterans Services Center (SCRVSC), which served 8,376 veterans last year. The SCRVSC focuses on educating veterans and their families about eligibility requirements while assisting them in submitting high-quality claims—completely free of charge. In addition to claims assistance, the center offers vital services, including employment readiness and military transition support. County Commissioner Al French, a decorated Marine veteran, expressed gratitude for the SCRVSC's commitment to serving veterans, highlighting the challenges many face in accessing benefits.

The center also developed a County Veteran Services Officer training program in collaboration with various agencies, ensuring that service officers remain informed about VA regulations. This initiative has led to consistently high performance among Veteran Service Officers in Washington State. With an average of 180 new clients each month, the SCRVSC continues to be a vital resource for veterans across Eastern Washington and beyond.
