Fish Lake feud Spokane County buys last portion of rival private resort at Fish Lake. They battled each other in court multiple times.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane County has successfully purchased an 8-acre parcel from the Myers Living Trust for $610,000, concluding a lengthy legal and operational dispute over the management of Fish Lake Regional Park. This acquisition expands the park's size to nearly 76 acres, a significant enhancement for the community. Commissioner Al French has voiced optimism about upcoming improvements, drawing comparisons to successful renovations at Bear Lake and Liberty Lake county parks. The Myers family, who operated a resort on the site until 1995, had previously engaged in multiple court battles with the county, accusing it of competing with private enterprises. As the last remaining part of the former Myers Park Resort, this parcel carries historical significance.

French noted that the community is eager for a more family-friendly park, moving away from its previous state. With plans still being finalized for the new land, the county aims to create a welcoming space for visitors. This purchase not only resolves past disputes but also sets the stage for a revitalized recreational area in Spokane County.
