Spokane Pavilion naming rights deal worth 2.6 million with unnamed financial services organization slated for approval Thursday

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane is nearing the conclusion of negotiations for a $2. 6 million naming rights deal for the U. S. Pavilion, contingent upon a vote by the Spokane Park Board. The search for a title sponsor began in 2019 but was stalled during the pandemic, with previous attempts to find a partner in 2022 and 2023 proving unsuccessful.

Critics like Mayor Lisa Brown express concerns that commercializing the pavilion could compromise its identity as a public landmark. However, supporters argue that the financial influx will allow for improved maintenance and the continuation of free public events. The unnamed financial services company will also allocate $50,000 per year for marketing initiatives, including community-focused concerts. Spokane has a history of successful sponsorships within Riverfront Park, such as the naming rights for the skating ribbon and the Providence Playscape. The Park Board's independence allows them to make this decision without interference from city officials.

As negotiations continue, the city's financial strategy reflects a blend of public and private partnership aimed at enhancing community resources.
