Spokane Police Department is Proud to Announce the Return of Neighborhood Resource Officers

Spokane, WALocal News

The Spokane Police Department proudly reintroduces the Neighborhood Resource Officer (NRO) program as of March 3, 2025, marking a pivotal step in community safety and engagement. This initiative comes after the program's discontinuation in 2023, which aimed to bolster the patrol division amid resource constraints. The revival was made possible by the Community Safety Sales Tax, approved by Spokane voters in the fall of 2024, showcasing community support for enhanced public safety. Officers Deanna Storch, Micah Prim, and Tyler Heiman will commence their roles today, with additional officers expected to join soon. Chief Kevin Hall remarked on the NROs' importance in building trust and addressing community concerns effectively.

Mayor Lisa Brown echoed this sentiment, asserting that the program represents a significant investment in Spokane's neighborhoods. The NROs will serve as liaisons, collaborating with various stakeholders to drive positive change and improve residents' quality of life. This program reflects a strong commitment to public safety and community well-being in Spokane.
