Spokane Police Officer Involved in Shooting Sunday Afternoon

On February 9, 2025, Spokane Police officers were conducting a patrol emphasis in response to community concerns regarding increased criminal activity in the area. Officers approached a vehicle occupied by a suspect wanted for felony warrants, leading to an attempt to make an arrest. When the suspect resisted, a struggle ensued, and officers reported that the individual was armed, which escalated the situation. In response to the threat, an officer discharged their weapon, striking the suspect, who was then provided with emergency medical care on-site. The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment of their injuries.

Fortunately, there are no outstanding suspects, and the public is not at risk following the incident. The Spokane Police Department will not participate in the investigation, which will be overseen by the Washington State Patrol to ensure transparency. Future updates will be communicated through the SIIR Team, with the case being forwarded to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office for review upon completion.
