City Activates Full-City Plow - City of Spokane, Washington

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane has activated a Full-City plow in response to recent heavy snowfall, which has prompted the Streets Department to enhance its snow removal strategy. Under this initiative, crews will work 24/7 to clear all 2,200 lane miles, starting with primary and secondary arterials before transitioning to residential streets. Street Director Clint Harris noted the urgency of improving driving conditions, especially with forecasted low temperatures following significant overnight snowfall. According to the city's snow response plan, the plowing operation is expected to take about three days to complete, contingent on weather conditions. Residents are asked to help by parking their vehicles on the odd side of the street and ensuring a clear pedestrian path on sidewalks.

The Streets Department has established four material sites across the city to expedite the snow-clearing process, and a plow map will be available online for community updates. Furthermore, plow teams are equipped with snow gates to minimize snow berms at the ends of driveways. The city urges motorists to drive cautiously and follow plow trucks safely during these wintry conditions.
