Spokane Police Officer Involved in Shooting After Domestic Violence Response

A shooting involving a Spokane police officer occurred on January 24, 2025, during a response to a domestic violence call at a residence on East Sanson Avenue. The 911 caller, a female, reported being threatened by a male suspect, prompting an urgent police response. Officers arrived within two minutes and heard screaming from inside the home, leading them to enter the premises. In the ensuing confrontation, an officer fired his weapon, injuring both the male suspect and another adult in the household. Medical treatment was administered at the scene before both individuals were transported to local hospitals.

The Spokane Police Department has indicated that they will not be involved in the investigation, adhering to Washington Administrative Code 139-12, with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office designated as the case manager. Future communications will be directed by the Spokane Independent Investigation Response Team. The names of the officers involved will be disclosed at a later date, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
