Suspect in Shooting that Took the Life of a 13-year-old Identified

Spokane Police have identified Glen Dylan Burkey as the suspect in the tragic shooting death of 13-year-old Gavin Looper. The incident took place in the early hours of January 25, 2025, in the 2800 block of East Heroy Avenue, where Looper lost his life. Burkey, 25, has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder, Drive By Shooting, and 2nd Degree Assault, with authorities confirming that this was not a random act. Following his extradition from Missoula, Montana, Burkey is now held at Spokane County Jail. Investigators have established probable cause for his arrest, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

The police are actively seeking assistance from the public, urging anyone with information on Burkey's whereabouts to contact them immediately, as he is considered armed and dangerous.
