City Works with Local Partners to Open Scattered Site Facilities

Spokane, WALocal News

The City of Spokane is set to enhance its support for the homeless population by collaborating with Empire Health Foundation, Compassionate Addiction Treatment (CAT), and Family Promise of Spokane to introduce additional scattered site facilities. This initiative aims to provide specialized services, with a new navigation center focused on individuals in recovery and a separate shelter operation for families, including those with young children. Mayor Lisa Brown stated that addressing homelessness requires a tailored approach, acknowledging the unique circumstances faced by each individual. Zeke Smith, President of Empire Health Foundation, praised the essential work of local partners in building a stronger community and providing critical services. Hallie Burchinal, Executive Director of Compassionate Addiction Treatment, emphasized the importance of stable environments for individuals to focus on long-term recovery goals.

Furthermore, Family Promise of Spokane has successfully operated within a scattered site model for five years, having rehoused over 800 individuals last year. This new funding will allow them to expand their efforts to end the cycle of homelessness by providing customized care. The launch of these facilities marks a significant step forward in Spokane's commitment to addressing the needs of its unhoused community.
