Officer Involved Shooting in North Central Spokane

Spokane Police officers were involved in a shooting incident on December 29, 2024, when they responded to a report of a male firing a rifle from his apartment at Cora and Post. Officers arrived on the scene within four minutes and found a male fitting the description; during the encounter, as many as four officers fired their weapons. Despite the life-saving efforts of both officers and medics, the subject was pronounced deceased on-site, with no injuries reported among civilians or officers. In line with standard protocol, the involved officers will be placed on administrative leave while the Spokane Independent Investigation Response (SIIR) team investigates the incident. The SIIR team, which includes various law enforcement agencies from eastern Washington, will ensure an impartial investigation.

Further communications regarding the case will be managed by the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, which is the case managing agency. The names of the officers involved will be disclosed at a later date, and the deceased's name will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner's Office. The investigation's findings will ultimately be forwarded to the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
