From January 6-10, 2025, Spokane residents can take advantage of winter curbside pickup for food and yard waste as part of the city's waste management program. This initiative allows for regular collection of green carts, including the final week for Christmas tree pickups. The expansion of winter services is based on positive customer feedback and underscores the city's commitment to sustainability. For $18. 01 per month, residents can subscribe to this optional service, which runs weekly from March through November, with additional pickups in January, February, and December.

The city encourages residents to reduce food waste by utilizing their green carts for a variety of acceptable materials, including meat, dairy, and yard debris. Comprehensive guidelines are provided to educate residents on effective waste management practices, aligning Spokane's efforts with broader sustainability goals and addressing community needs for improved refuse collection.
