Fire in the Ridpath Apartments Displaces Nine

Spokane, WALocal News

A fire broke out at the Ridpath Club Apartments in Spokane on December 3, 2024, following reports of flooding on the fifth floor. Firefighters arrived to find an active fire, prompting an upgrade to a High-Rise Fire response. The sprinkler system quickly extinguished the flames, but significant water damage affected several floors below. Fire crews assisted residents on the fourth floor who were struggling to evacuate due to smoke and water, using aerial devices to help them. Fortunately, all occupants were safely guided out through stairwells without injuries.

Nine residents have been displaced and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross while the fire remains under investigation. Damage estimates are pending, but the prompt response from firefighters prevented further escalation. This incident underscores the importance of fire safety measures, such as sprinkler systems, in high-rise buildings.
