Stuff Green Carts with Food and Yard Waste

Spokane's curbside food and yard waste collection service will extend into winter, with designated pickups on December 1-5, 2025, January 5-9, and February 2-6, 2026. Public Works Director Marlene Feist highlighted the city's response to resident requests for waste services beyond November. During the holiday season, residents are encouraged to minimize food waste by properly utilizing their green carts for food scraps and yard waste. Acceptable items range from leaves and grass to various food scraps, while plastic bags are prohibited in green carts. Customers can add the service easily online or by calling the city.

The Waste to Energy facility, open daily, offers another option for clean yard and food waste disposal. The minimum charge for dropping off materials is $7. 62 for up to 200 pounds. This initiative aims to promote sustainable waste management practices within the community.
