Fatal Early Morning House Fire in Northwest Spokane Claims Life of Child

A fire in a Spokane home claimed the life of an 11-year-old boy early today, prompting a swift response from local fire departments. Firefighters located the boy in the basement after rescuing a disoriented adult female, who was the child's grandmother. She attempted to extinguish the flames but was overpowered by smoke and heat.
