Stuff Green Carts with Food and Yard Waste

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will continue its curbside food and yard waste collection service during winter months, starting with pick-ups from December 1-5, 2025. This initiative responds to community requests for year-round waste management, particularly for yard clean-up activities in winter. Public Works Director Marlene Feist noted that the service allows residents to dispose of food waste and yard debris effectively. In addition to the December pick-up, further winter collection weeks are planned for January 5-9 and February 2-6, 2026. Residents are encouraged to fill their green carts with yard waste and ensure that stormwater drains remain unobstructed.

The city has specified what can and cannot be placed in the green carts, stressing the importance of adhering to these guidelines to avoid additional fees. Individuals can subscribe to the service online at Spokane311. org or by calling the city directly. This expanded service reflects the city's commitment to sustainability and responsible waste management practices.
