SPD investigation into child sex crimes leads to arrest in Florida suspect was former teacher at religious school in Spokane extradition to Washington State pending

Spokane, WALocal News

On October 28, 2025, Florida law enforcement arrested 38-year-old Tyrone L. Cliff for multiple felony charges involving child sexual abuse material. Cliff, a former Spokane resident and teacher at a local religious school, was taken into custody in Hillsborough County. The investigation initiated in August when the Internet Crimes Against Children unit received a CyberTip about Cliff's online activities. Upon discovering his relocation to Florida, authorities issued multiple felony warrants based on evidence gathered by the Spokane Police Department.

The collaborative effort between the Spokane Police Department, Tampa Police Department, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement led to Cliff's quick apprehension. He remains in custody as he awaits extradition to Washington State. This case underscores the importance of inter-agency cooperation in tackling child exploitation. It also raises concerns about the potential risks posed by individuals with access to children in educational settings.
