Spokane City Council to Consider New Camping and Obstruction Ordinance

The Spokane City Council plans to vote on the “Safe and Accessible Spaces” ordinance during a legislative session on October 27, 2025, at 6 p. m. This ordinance, which was discussed in the Public Safety and Community Health Committee, aims to enforce a ban on camping and obstruction on public property. It will grant Spokane Police Department officers discretion to either assist willing suspects or cite repeat offenders with escalating consequences. The council suspended the rules to include this ordinance in the agenda for the meeting.
